Senior DevOps Engineer (m/w/d) (Remote, Germany based)

As a Senior DevOps Engineer (m/f/d), you will take ownership of our private cloud infrastructure and lead its strategic evolution. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure the performance, availability, and scalability of our systems - while driving automation, enabling cloud adoption, and embedding best practices across the infrastructure lifecycle.

• Take end-to-end ownership of our private cloud infrastructure architecture and its ongoing evolution—ensuring high performance, availability, and resilience across all environments. 
• Help shape the strategic direction of our infrastructure platform, aligning technical decisions with company-wide goals for scalability, security, and developer productivity. 
• Lead our journey toward cloud-native infrastructure: plan and implement a sustainable, cost-efficient migration to hyperscalers (AWS, GCP, Azure). 
• Automate provisioning, monitoring, and scaling of services using modern SRE practices and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). 
• Continuously improve our CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable delivery and empower developers with self-service capabilities. 
• Partner closely with product and engineering teams to design infrastructure solutions that are secure, resilient, and fit for purpose. 
• Ensure the health and performance of critical production systems—including MySQL, HAProxy, Nginx, Nomad, Consul, and Vault. 
• Embed security, compliance, and observability into infrastructure processes and day-to-day operations. 

Your Profile

• Proven experience in senior DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering roles, with a strong track record in high-availability production environments. 
• Strategic and architectural mindset with the ability to design infrastructure for long-term scalability, security, and cost-efficiency. 
• In-depth understanding of private cloud infrastructure and data center operations, ideally combined with experience in migrating workloads to public cloud platforms. 
• Skilled at balancing operational needs with long-term architectural goals and trade-offs. 
• Hands-on experience with automation tools and IaC frameworks such as Terraform and Ansible. 
• Strong background in containerization (Docker/OCI) and orchestration tools (Nomad, Kubernetes, etc.). 
• Demonstrated ability to build and enhance CI/CD systems to support rapid, reliable software delivery. 
• Advanced troubleshooting skills across databases, services, and network infrastructure. 
• Proficient in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills—capable of aligning stakeholders and championing infrastructure best practices. 

Required Technical Expertise

• Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent tools 
• Containerization & Orchestration: Docker, Nomad, Kubernetes 
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, GCP, or Azure—especially with focus on scalable, cost-effective architectures 
• CI/CD & Automation: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar frameworks 
• Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, etc.
