Software Engineer

Join a small, senior team building the next generation of a clinical trial platform that hospitals and pharma sponsors rely on worldwide — where the code you ship directly supports patient safety and scientific integrity. You'll work on both a mature, mission-critical system and a ground-up modernization of its stack, with real influence over technical direction and a strong mandate to use AI-assisted development as a core part of how we work.

You'll evolve our current Java / Vue platform in a 2-week sprint cadence - shipping features, resolving complex bugs, and strengthening the foundation - while helping design and pilot the move to a modern JVM stack. Expect to collaborate closely with QA and domain experts, make architectural decisions (not just execute them), and clarify ambiguous requirements as a normal part of the job.

Must have

• 3+ years building production backend or full-stack systems in the Java / JVM ecosystem (Java, Kotlin, or similar — Spring, Jakarta EE, Hibernate/JPA, REST).
• Strong OO design sense, solid testing discipline.
• Comfort reading and refactoring a large, mature codebase.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development — Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar. You use these tools daily in your workflow, understand their limits, and can tell when they're wrong. If you're not there yet but actively learning, tell us how.
• Written and spoken English for async collaboration (team is distributed across Germany and Poland).
• Based in Germany.

Nice to have

• Vue, React, or another modern frontend framework.
• Experience leading or participating in a stack migration (app server change, framework upgrade, monolith-to-modular).
• PostgreSQL beyond basic CRUD.
• Experience in regulated software (medical, pharma, finance, aviation) — or curiosity about working under GxP / 21 CFR Part 11.

You will work in an international team of developers.

We have short decision-making processes. You will first have an interview with our department lead and later meet the international team and our CEO.
