Data Lead – Search & Recommendation

Instaffo's matching algorithm plays a crucial role in bringing together talent with the right job and vice-versa. We are looking for someone who is eager to lead the further development of our matching and take it to the next level together with us.

The matching has been developed in-house, and now we want to build a dedicated team for it, which you will lead. Your superpower is to bring together product- and business sense with a deep technical expertise in the search & recommendation field.

We run on Kubernetes on DigitalOcean + some AWS and deploy continuously through GitLab CI. Our matching stack is mostly based on Python and Elasticsearch. We are a fun team from 14 nations 🇩🇪🇧🇷🇱🇻🇻🇳🇧🇬🇺🇦🇷🇺🇧🇾🇫🇷🇮🇹🇲🇰🇭🇷🇧🇦🇮🇳, speak English and love to deliver great software.

• Strategy and Vision Setting: Establish and maintain a clear technical vision for the matching algorithm, aligning it with the overall objectives of the platform.

• Hands-On Development: Actively contribute to the coding and development of the matching algorithm, utilizing your expertise in Python, Elasticsearch, and other relevant technologies.
• Lead and Manage the Matching Algorithm Team: Oversee the development of the matching algorithm and related services, ensuring alignment with business goals and product vision.
• Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers from other teams to integrate new ideas and improvements into the matching.

• Strong Technical Background: Proven hands-on experience in search and recommender systems (at least 2 years), with strong coding skills in Python, experience with Elasticsearch or a similar, and hands-on experience with machine learning.
• Innovative and Collaborative Mindset: Eagerness to collaborate on new ideas and approaches, constantly seeking to improve the product and process.
• Product and Business Acumen: Demonstrated understanding of how technical decisions impact product outcomes and business goals.

We are a fun team from 14 nations 🇩🇪🇧🇷🇱🇻🇻🇳🇧🇬🇺🇦🇷🇺🇧🇾🇫🇷🇮🇹🇲🇰🇭🇷🇧🇦🇮🇳, speak English and love to deliver great software. We are currently around 20 people in R&D, this includes engineers, data scientists, and product people. The matching team will be a newly composed team, which you will lead and help us to scale. We already have an experienced ML engineer on board and our data lead will ensure a smooth handover and onboarding.
