As a Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) at VESTIGAS, you will set the technical direction and drive the evolution of our platform. You’ll blend hands-on development with strategic leadership, guiding a team of engineers to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions that push our mission forward.

You will:

• Collaborate closely with product managers and front-end engineers to architect, build, ship, and optimize new features from inception through deployment.
• Drive the core and scalability efforts of our solution, identifying and implementing improvements to support rapid growth.
• Plan, organize, and build large-scale, high-impact product features from the ground up, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into existing systems.
• Establish and refine engineering standards, tooling, and processes, serving as a mentor and role model for other back-end engineers.
• Drive technical excellence by conducting code reviews, sharing best practices, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture within the team.

Our tech stack includes:

• Python (FastAPI) for backend development
• Microservices architecture for feature separation
• Docker, Docker Swarm, Ansible, and GitLab CI/CD for containerization and deployment
• Azure & OpenAI AI integration
• Couchbase and PostgreSQL for database management

• You hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field – ideally with a Master's degree.
• You bring at 7+ years of relevant experience in backend development, ideally across multiple roles in startups, scale-ups or big tech environments.
• You enjoy working end-to-end: from shaping ideas and architecture to implementing production-ready solutions – writing clean, modular, and well-tested code.
• You have deep expertise in Python and experience with scalable microservice architectures and modern development/deployment tools.
• You are fluent in English at C2 level (spoken and written); German is a plus, but not a requirement.
• You are willing to work from our Munich office at least two times per week.

You'll be joining a highly passionate and driven team, reporting directly to our CTO, Yannick, who has previously pushed initiatives at FlixBus and Celonis.

You'll be an integral part of our highly skilled backend team, working closely with Marc (previously with Foodora and FlixBus) and Alex (who brings experience from Siemens and Mercedes Benz). Both bring a wealth of knowledge and proven expertise in building scalable, high-performance systems.

In addition to the backend team, you'll collaborate regularly with our webapp, mobile app, and product teams to deliver seamless user experiences and innovative solutions. This cross-functional environment ensures you’ll have opportunities to contribute at every stage of the development process.
