React / Typescript Developer (m/f/d)

We are looking for an experienced react and typescript developer to help us build the best recruiting platform in Europe. You will work in a small, cross-functional team that has full ownership of a part of our application and will work together to deliver results autonomously.

• You work in a small agile team with clear responsibilities, but also in collaboration on larger (technical) issues with other developers. We are agile and most teams work either in 2-week sprints or Kanban. We prioritize tech issues and product issues and we give teams a lot of autonomy. We use OKR on company and department level.
• You work closely with the non-technical (Product Manager & Product Designer) and technical stakeholders (backend, frontend developers) to define, implement, review, track and measure new features and improvements to the product.
• You will be responsible for further development, improvement, and maintaining a web app based on TypeScript and React (in the backend we use Ruby on Rails). We have a continuous improvement process and want our developers to help us improve our code quality and standards.
• You will work together with the product stakeholders of your team to translate business requirements into high quality, performant code. We strive for scalability and quality.
• You will also work together with the product designer and backend developers of your team to build a great user experience while maintaining high quality code. We use figma and a clear design system, as well as storybook to collaborate effectively. We iterate designs with developers to find the best possible UX while keeping the effort of implementation reasonable.
• You are given time to continuously learn and expand your skills even beyond your immediate scope of frontend work. You will work with other cool developers, will benefit from sharing your own knowledge and learning from others.

Our Tech Stack

• Frontend: React, TypeScript (JavaScript), Sass Modules, shared component library as npm package, react-query, zustand, zod, JSON-API. In parts also GraphQL and next.js
• Backend: Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ
• Dev-Ops: Gitlab, CI & CD fully automated, kubernetes, helm, terraform

• Experience (min. 5 years) with React
• If you are skilled at Ruby on Rails, of course Full Stack work can be an option as well.
• Good knowledge of Typescript, HTML, CSS, and Sass.
• Good knowledge of common libraries and patterns. Ideally with the ones we use as mentioned above (react-query, zod, zustand)
• Experience with modern development methods (test automation, version control, Agile/Scrum/Kanban).
• Interest in working in a startup environment and helping to shape our platform and features to not only be good, but excellent.
• Knowledge of frontend testing frameworks (such as Playwright, jest) is a plus.

At Instaffo, we work in small and cross-functional product teams. Each team owns an area of the product and can autonomously implement features. We have multiple teams. Mainly one for candidate side and one for company side, as well as two more project specific teams. We area also looking to soon establish another team. Each teams consist of a product manager, a product designer, and 2-5 developers.

The teams generally work in two week sprints for product issues. The teams use sprints or kanban to structure their workflow. While each team can work independently, you will of course also collaborate with members of the other teams for technical tasks, as well as collaborate with our data science team and other departments for some features.

We are very international and therefore use English as our primary working language in the whole company.

1. You will have a short 20 minute call with HR. The purpose of this call is to find out whether our requirements match & give you the opportunity to get to know Instaffo a bit closer.
2. If we both decide to move on further, the next step is a 30 minute interview with Patrick (Head of Engineering). We will deep-dive into the development culture at Instaffo & the role in particular.
3. As the last step, you will complete a small, practical task (2-3 hours of time investment) and we will discuss it on a technical basis together with you, so you can demonstrate us your skills and experience and we can have an interesting technical discussion.
